Thank you so much for addressing this issue. I have felt called to adopt for a long time, and have found the lack of support from the church to be distressing. I feel there is still a startling, almost unconscious stigma surrounding bringing children who aren't 'your own' (a phrase that is also very disturbing) into your family. This is especially disturbing given that we have all been adopted into God's family and should henceforth have a ready comprehension of the principles of adoption. I feel there needs to be a basic shift in the church's perceptions, and that leadership ought to be facing and addressing this.
